Born in Busan in 1952, the deceased graduated from Busan High School and Pusan National University of Industrial Economics and worked as a pitcher for the Hanil Bank, an unemployed baseball team. Afterwards, he worked at Busan High School, Kyungsung University, and Hwimungo University, where he became a coach of Inha University in 1986.

He was evaluated as a leader who was well versed in amateur baseball. Notably, he led the Korean national baseball team to a gold medal by winning all six games at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games, when professional players were allowed to participate for the first time.

At that time, the team was called the "baseball dream team" by combining players who were active in the Major League including Park Chan-ho, Seo Jae-eung and Kim Byung-hyun, and top KBO stars including Kim Dong-ju, Park Jae-hong and Lee Byung-kyu. The deceased successfully managed the team by uniting players with strong personality.

In 1999, he won the Asian Championship and qualified for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and later served as coach of the national team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2002 Busan Asian Games.

He joined Woori Heroes (currently Kiwoom Heroes), which was founded in 2008, and worked as a scout team leader and technical director until 2015 to find promising players.

In particular, Kim Ha-sung (MLB Tampa Bay Rays), Choi Won-tae (Samsung Lions), Song Sung-moon (Kium Heroes), Park Dong-won and Cho Sang-woo (KIA Tigers) were reportedly nominated by his hands.

After leaving the club, he worked hard for the development of Korean baseball by going around elementary schools with KBO to donate baseball talents.
